What we expect

As an AI & Machine Learning intern, you will work closely with Data Analytics, Product, Process, Production and Maintenance to:

Assist in training Large Language Models (LLMs) tailored to manufacturing domain data and knowledge.
Develop, test, and maintain chatbot applications that leverage LLMs to provide intelligent responses and insights.
Work with Python for data processing, model training, and chatbot integration tasks.
Manage and query domain-related datasets stored in PostgreSQL/Oracle databases.
Collaborate with the team to gather, clean, and preprocess manufacturing data for AI model training.
Gain hands-on experience in LLM concepts, training workflows, and fine-tuning techniques.
Support integration of AI-driven solutions with existing software systems, including Java-based platforms.
Document development processes, challenges, and solutions to support knowledge sharing.
Continuously research and stay updated on AI and LLM advancements relevant to manufacturing applications.

Who we are looking for

Undergraduate of degree in:

• Computer Science

• Artificial Intelligence

• Data Science

• Related technical fields

With relevant coursework or skills in:

✓ Automation (NLP, workflow automation)

✓ Data Analytics (SQL, data processing)

Note: Strong project experience may substitute for formal coursework.

Substitutions:

Equivalent experience: Self-taught candidates with NLP/AI/Python/SQL/HTML/CSS/Javascript projects.

Must Have (Core):

Python Programming (Pandas, NLP basics)
SQL (query writing/optimization)
HTML/CSS/Javascript (basic)
Problem-Solving (debugging, workflow design)
Collaboration (working with non-technical teams)

Nice to have:

AI Frameworks (Rasa, LangChain, Hugging Face)
Statistics (hypothesis testing)
Technical Writing (documentation)

Personal Qualities:

Possess good logical thinking, uses reasoning skills to objectively study problems, make rational conclusion on how to proceed next step
Good analytical skills with the ability to break down and solve complex problems
Patient and able to work independently with adequate supervision
Passion for technology and innovation

From receiving your documents to acceptance: the application process

Step 1

Job search

You have found your desired position on our job board? On this page you will find a link at the end of the position description that will take you to our applicant portal. You haven't found the right position yet and would like to send us your unsolicited application? - Simply create your candidate profile in our applicant portal. We will be happy to inform you about jobs that match your profile via our "Job Alert". Would you like to check the current status of your application? Then you can track it directly in your candidate profile under "Job applications". Our goal is to provide you with a great experience and maximum transparency in our application process.

Step 2

Online application

You simply register on our applicant portal and receive access data with which you log in. In the application form, you only have to fill out a few fields and can upload important documents such as cover letter, resume or certificates. This usually takes 5 - 10 minutes. As soon as your application has been successfully saved in our applicant portal, you will automatically receive a confirmation of receipt. The individual review of your documents by HR and the department usually takes two to four weeks.

Step 3

Phone interview

If your profile is suitable for the advertised position, we will invite you to a telephone interview.

Step 4

First personal interview

You have aroused our interest! Now we would like to get to know you personally and invite you to a first interview. In this interview, you will talk to your potential manager and the recruiter about your opportunities at ams OSRAM and your skills and professional experience. The time between the telephone interview and the first personal interview is usually one to two weeks.

Step 5

Second personal interview

If the first interview goes well for you and for us, you are on the shortlist. It is very likely that we will invite you to a further interview: Often there is a need for further clarification after the first interview, in terms of content or organization, which we can then discuss. The time span between the first and the second personal interview is usually two weeks.

Step 6

Starting out with us

We have reached an agreement and the contractual issues are settled? - Welcome to ams OSRAM! The time span between the second personal interview and the conclusion of the contract is usually one to two weeks.

Step 7

Onboarding

We look forward to welcoming you on your first day at work. With our onboarding measures we actively support you to quickly find your way in the ams OSRAM world. You will soon be able to concentrate fully on your new projects and tasks.
