Design Engineer Optical System Engineering (d/m/f)

What we expect

Design system-level optical simulation models and perform extensive optical and light behavior analysis. Interpret and report on results including recommendations on optimization
Define and implement optical systems with internal and external partners
Work closely with customers and Field Application Engineers to resolve technical challenges
Define design concepts and select key optical technologies in-line with requirements
Generate product documentation including optical design specifications and optical design performances reports
Planning and supervision of laboratory measurements for sensor and material characterization
Perform engineering product verification to ensure compliance to requirements

Who we are looking for

Master’s or PhD in Physics, Optics, Optical Engineering or related field of study
Experience in optical design of imaging systems. Minimum 3 years’ experience preferred
Experience with optical filters, microoptics (MLA) and consumer electronic systems is beneficial
Main tools: LightTools & Solidworks (Experience is beneficial; induction and trainings will be offered)
Knowledge in optical and micro-optics technologies and materials is also an Advantage
Preferred experience in opto-mechanical design and CAD
Self-motivated, creative problem solver, to participate in a cross functional development Team
Fluent in English, German is a plus

Step 1

Job search

You haven't found the right position yet and would like to send us your unsolicited application? - Simply create your candidate profile in our applicant portal. Step 2

Online application

You simply register on our applicant portal and receive access data with which you log in. In the application form, you only have to fill out a few fields and can upload important documents such as cover letter, resume or certificates. This usually takes 5 - 10 minutes. As soon as your application has been successfully saved in our applicant portal, you will automatically receive a confirmation of receipt. The individual review of your documents by HR and the department usually takes two to four weeks.

Step 3

Phone interview

If your profile is suitable for the advertised position, we will invite you to a telephone interview.

Step 4

First personal interview

You have aroused our interest! Now we would like to get to know you personally and invite you to a first interview. In this interview, you will talk to your potential manager and the recruiter about your opportunities at ams OSRAM and your skills and professional experience. The time between the telephone interview and the first personal interview is usually one to two weeks.

Step 5

Second personal interview

If the first interview goes well for you and for us, you are on the shortlist. It is very likely that we will invite you to a further interview: Often there is a need for further clarification after the first interview, in terms of content or organization, which we can then discuss. The time span between the first and the second personal interview is usually two weeks.

Step 6

Starting out with us

We have reached an agreement and the contractual issues are settled? - Welcome to ams OSRAM! The time span between the second personal interview and the conclusion of the contract is usually one to two weeks.

Step 7

Onboarding

We look forward to welcoming you on your first day at work. With our onboarding measures we actively support you to quickly find your way in the ams OSRAM world. You will soon be able to concentrate fully on your new projects and tasks.
