EHS Staff Engineer

What we expect
- Responsible for all EHS operations to ensure legal compliance and EHS policies.
- Responsible for monitoring all aspects of the environment, safety and health tasks.
- Responsible for contractor management, work permit issuance and site safety assessments.
- Lead and maintain safety programs such as Work at Height, Lifting Activities, Confined Space, Electrical Safety, e-Systems etc.
- Lead e-Near Miss program through promotions, data compilation and trend analysis. Work with relevant personnel to ensure preventive actions closure.
- Responsible for authorities’ inspection especially DOSH inspections related to PMT, PMA etc.
- Evaluate the work environment from the perspective of ergonomics, machine/equipment safety, chemical exposure and any other applicable regulations.
- Assess hazards for unsafe situations and work with area owners to develop measures to ensure personnel & workplace safety.
- Conduct regular EHS inspections and support all authorities and customer audits.
- Perform accident investigation, root cause analysis and follow through with corrective/preventive actions for improvement.
- Perform EHS monitoring, reporting and scheduled waste management.
- Lead/participate in cross functional teams for EHS issue resolution or for new equipment/process approval.
- Maintain site EHS permits and complies with all reporting and permit application requirements under all related local and regional laws and regulations.
- Track closely and measure effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions against internal and external audit findings.
- Assist in emergency response and EHS/ ERT training.
- Oversee EHS management system (ISO14001 and ISO45001).
- Assist in projects related to site/ facility expansion project.
- Support for the implementation of Global, Corporate and Regional EHS initiatives.
- Support safety inspections on hostels and company transportation if required.
- Other assignment as required by the department.
Who we are looking for
- Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor Degree in Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS), Chemical, Mechanical or any other related discipline.
- Preferably a DOSH certified safety & health officer (Green Book).
- Confined space certification or environmental competencies will have added advantage.
- At least 5-10 years working experience in required field is required for this position (preferably in semiconductor industries).
- Have understanding on ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management system.
- Familiar with relevant legal requirements - Occupational Safety & Health Act 1994, Environmental Quality Act 1974, Atomic Energy Licensing Act and etc.
- Equipment safety engineering controls.
- Construction project knowledge/ experience.
- Familiar with basic Microsoft tools
- Good interpersonal skills, problem solving and decision making skills, and a good team player.
- Independent, responsible, proactive and self motivated.
- Able to work under fast demand environment.
