The Application Engineer serves as the primary technical interface for customers, Sales, and FAEs, collaborating closely with Product Management and System Solution Engineering to drive go-to-market activities, DIN/DWIN processes, and product roadmap development. The role also develops demonstration and evaluation hardware to enable customer evaluation of ams OSRAM products.
- Act as the technical expert and primary support interface for customers, Sales, FAEs, Marketing, and Product Management
- Drive customer design-in and design-win activities by providing timely technical guidance and resolving application-related challenges
- Design and develop evaluation kits, demonstrators, and reference hardware from requirements definition through prototype validation using Altium Designer
- Perform system-level validation, characterization, and performance benchmarking of ams OSRAM and competitor solutions
- Generate customer-facing technical collateral, including application notes, technical articles, presentations, and design guidelines
- Deliver technical training and product presentations for customers, Sales teams, and internal stakeholders
- Gather and communicate customer feedback, market requirements, and competitive insights to Product Management and System Solution Engineering.
- Support go-to-market initiatives and contribute to roadmap planning by identifying application trends and customer needs
Who we are looking for
- Master's degree (M.Sc.) or Dipl.-Ing. in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Semiconductor Technology, Embedded Systems, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in embedded hardware and software development, application engineering, or a related field
- Expert knowledge of PCB design using Altium Designer, including schematic design, multi-layer PCB layout, component selection and board bring-up
- Hands-on experience with debugging and validation using common laboratory equipment (oscilloscopes, multi-meters, power supplies etc.)
- Solid understanding of hardware/software integration, embedded architectures, and mixed-signal system design
- Experience with digital interfaces such as SPI, I2C, I3C, UART, USB and high-speed interfaces such as MIPI
- Self-motivated and proactive problem solver with strong communication skills, capable of working independently, managing multiple priorities and delivering customer-oriented solutions
- Ability to independently develop demonstrators, evaluation kits, and proof-of-concept systems from PCB design through firmware implementation and system validation
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken; German is considered a plus
